This Guest Privacy Policy (“Guest Policy”) applies to people visiting our corporate offices in California. This Guest Policy does not cover the following:
- Visits to our offices in Colorado or Chile;
- Visits to any coworking spaces used by our employees, even if provided as a benefit to our employees;
- Job applicants visiting our California office for an in-person interview; or
- Independent contractors visiting our California office to perform work in that office.
If you are a job applicant or independent contractor, we address our privacy practices relevant to those roles in our Applicant Privacy Policy and Independent Contractor Policy. If you are a California employee, your visits to our California corporate office are covered by our internal Employee Privacy Policy and employee handbook. For California Guests, we intended that this Guest Policy serve as the notice at collection required by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
1. Where We Collect Personal Information
During your visit to our California corporate office, we may collect personal information from the below sources:
- Information you provide to us directly, such as information you submitted when signing in as a guest;
- Information we collect or receive from others, such as the employee that will be your host during your visit; and
- Information we infer from network activity and security systems, such as firewall information collected if you log into the company’s guest WiFi using your personal device.

For Guests in California, we may disclose (and may have disclosed in the last 12 months before this Applicant Policy was last updated) the following categories of personal information to our service providers or contractors for a business purpose:

- Internet activity, such as IP address and device information;
- Inferences, such as IP address, WiFi access points, and other information that is used to infer location when you are logged into Checkr’s network using an unmanaged device at Checkr's California office;
- Audio, visual, or similar information, such as CCTV footage captured when visiting our California office; and
- Professional or employment-related information, such as company, business address, and title.
6. Retention of Personal Information
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. Once the retention period expires, we delete, deidentify, aggregate, or anonymize your personal information. If we deidentify personal information, we will keep it deidentified and not try to reidentify it unless permitted or required to do so under applicable law.

7.1 What Rights You Might Have in California
General Information
If you live in California, the CCPA can provide guests the following rights, subject to some exceptions:
- The right to request access to the information we hold about you, including details about how we process your personal information.
- The right to request deletion of your personal information.
- The right to correct your personal information.
- The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.
- The right not to be discriminated against based on your exercise of any of the rights described in this Section 6.1.
Sensitive Information
If we use or disclose sensitive personal information under the CCPA, we limit our use or disclosure of that information to only certain purposes designated in the CCPA. We therefore do not need to offer the right to limit the use and disclosure of that information beyond those designated purposes.
7.2 Selling Information and Using It for Cross-Context Behavioral Advertising
We do not “sell” or “share” Guests' personal information for “cross-context behavioral advertising,” as those terms are defined in the CCPA. If, however, you visit our website open to the public, such as our homepage, we might sell or share your personal information collected during your visit to those parts of the website for cross-context behavioral advertising. Such information might include limited identifiers and internet activity, which we may provide to social media platforms and advertising partners for our advertising and marketing purposes. 7.3 Exercising These Rights
To the extent required by applicable law, Checkr will help you exercise the above rights for free. To exercise these rights, please contact us at hello@checkr.com. When you make a request to exercise your rights, we will verify your identity by asking for information that matches our records. This may include your name, contact information, and details about your visit.
If you would like an authorized agent to make a privacy rights request on your behalf, we may ask for written, signed permission that the agent has been authorized to act on your behalf. Once the written authorization is provided, we will review your request and respond in accordance with applicable law.
7. Protection of Personal Information
Checkr has adopted physical, technological, and administrative safeguards to help protect the security and privacy of the information we have about you. Such safeguards include encryption, multi-factor authentication, and other proactive security measures to help protect your information against unauthorized access and disclosure. That said, no system is completely secure. We therefore cannot guarantee the security of any information we process as part of your visit to our California office.
8. Links to Other Websites
Although we might provide links to unaffiliated websites, this Guest Policy does not apply to your use of those sites. If you follow links to such sites, we recommend that you review their privacy policies since they might be different from ours. Checkr is not responsible for unaffiliated sites’ privacy or data security practices or policies.
9. Children
Checkr does not direct its services to or knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under 16. Consequently, Checkr does not have actual knowledge that it sells or shares the such children's personal information.
10. Changes to This Guest Policy
Checkr may change this Guest Policy at any time. We will post any changes on this webpage and update the “Last Updated” date at the beginning of this Guest Policy to reflect the date of those changes. We recommend that you review this webpage periodically to stay informed of any changes. To the extent required by applicable law, we will provide a prominent notice of material changes and the effective date of the changes before making them. For example, we might include a notice on the Site or email you about the material change.
